Alison Flora
Alison Flora (b. 1992) is a French artist based in Toulouse.
A graduate of the École Supérieure d’Art des Pyrénées (2017), her multidisciplinary practice—encompassing drawing, painting, video, installation, and music under the pseudonym Sopoorific—revolves around the spiritual exploration of contemporary societal torments.
Since 2019, Alison has used her own blood as an organic medium.
This highly symbolic gesture is governed by a strict medical protocol and a meticulous lifestyle.
The performative ritual first takes shape through bodily constraint. Other material imperatives are then integrated into the process—such as managing drying times on the support—before the blood eventually fuses with the paper or canvas, the inevitable conclusion of a cathartic act orchestrated by the artist.
While Gothic motifs and references to Viennese Actionism haunt and inhabit her works, Alison’s primary focus is probing the contemporary abyss, where notions such as stress, trauma, and eco-anxiety reside.
Her work has notably been exhibited at the Salon de Montrouge (2022), MO.CO (Montpellier) in 2023, the Musée de Cluny, the FRAC Île-de-France, and the Louvre-Lens in 2025.
The book Catharsis, a compilation of drawings created between 2020 and 2023, was self-published in 2024.
